Petrol scarcity is no longer a rare event in Nigeria. It has become a reoccurring issue that residents have learned to accept as something that occurs at least once a year. Fuel is vital to the lives of all residents, as well as the country as a whole. However, in recent years, there has been a major shortfall in the product's supply, signifying scarcity. This study examined the effects of fuel scarcity on household mobility in Lagos State. Quantitative research design using interview was used while household members residing in Lagos State were served as population. A total number of 40 participants were selected from different households across Lagos using purposive sampling method while face-to-face interviews were used for data collected. Collected data were analysed using descriptive statistics. The findings showed that fuel scarcity limited households commuting choices, raised households transport fares and lowered households movements. It also inhibited households mobility on a daily basis and has a considerable detrimental influence on the well-being of households. Therefore, the Federal Government of Nigeria should invest in reliable and affordable alternative fuels for transport, educate households on efficient commuting approaches and alternative transport modes and government should temporarily provide relief measures for businesses affected by transport disruptions to mitigate socio-economic losses.
