Before submitting your manuscript, please read these guidelines carefully. By submitting, authors agree to abide by all journal policies.

1. Overview

  • Kaduna Journal of Geography (KJG) is an open-access, double-blind peer-reviewed international online journal.
  • Publishes original articles in Geography and Environmental Sciences.
  • Issues released biannually (June & December), with continuous publication of accepted articles added to the current volume.

2. Article Types

Authors may submit the following types:

  • Original Research Articles
  • (Optional: Review Articles, Short Communications, Case Studies)

Specify the article type clearly in your cover letter.

3. Manuscript Preparation

a. Language, Style & Format

  • Manuscripts must be in English.
  • Use clear, concise scientific style. Non-native speakers may wish to have the manuscript proofread.
  • Use consistent units, terminology, and abbreviations. Spell out abbreviations when first used.

b. Structure

Include the following sections (as relevant):

  1. Title Page – title, full names of all authors, affiliations, corresponding author/contact details.

  2. Abstract – no more than ~250 words; must summarize background, objectives, methods, major results, conclusions.

  3. Keywords – 4-6 relevant terms.

  4. Main Text divided into: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion (or Results & Discussion), Conclusion.

  5. Acknowledgements (if any).

  6. Declarations / Ethics Statement (see section 7).

  7. References.

  8. Tables, Figures, Supplementary Material as needed.

c. Figures & Tables

  • Number all figures and tables in the order they are cited in text.
  • Provide captions for all figures and tables. Figures should be of sufficient quality for reproduction.

  • Tables should use simple, readable formats.

d. References

  • Use the APA citation style, preferably the 7th Edition. Include all works cited, published or accepted.
  • Wherever available, include DOIs.

  • Unpublished data or personal communications should be cited only in text, not in reference list, with permission from source.

4. Submission Process

  • Manuscripts should be submitted via the journal’s online submission system. Click here to register, or sign in if you have an existing account.
  • Along with the manuscript, include cover letter, declarations (conflict of interest, funding), and any supplementary files.
  • Ensure that the version submitted is final and clean (no comments or tracked changes).

5. Peer Review & Decision

  • The review is double-blind: authors do not know reviewers, and reviewers do not know authors.
  • All manuscripts will be checked using plagiarism detection software; only those with similarity index ≤ 20% will proceed to review.
  • Possible decisions: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, Reject.
  • Authors will be notified with reviewer comments and the decision.

6. Copyright, Licensing & Open Access

  • Authors retain copyright of their work.
  • All articles are published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0).
  • Open access ensures free, permanent access, reuse, and distribution, provided the original work is properly cited.

7. Ethical Requirements

  • Research involving human or animal subjects must follow recognized ethical standards and include appropriate approvals.
  • Authors must declare any conflicts of interest.
  • Data integrity: authors should ensure that data are accurate; fabrication or falsification is prohibited.

8. Publication Charges & Fees

  • Each submission must be accompanied by a non-refundable submission fee of N5,000.
  • Also, a publication fee of N30,000 is payable only after acceptance.

9. After Acceptance

  • Authors will receive proofs for correction before final publication.
  • Any substantial changes post-acceptance may be subject to editorial review.
  • Supplementary materials will be published alongside the article.
